President hails Mbale historical's contribution to Uganda's liberation

President Yoweri Museveni has hailed Mbale's historical, Mr. Victor Wanyoto, for his contribution to the liberation of Uganda and to the development of the country.

"I congratulate Mr. Wanyoto for educating his children who have brought development to Uganda by joining the media industry. These children are good representatives of the children of the veterans. I thank you very much," he said.

The President was on Tuesday 19th August 2014 hosted by Mr. Wanyoto's son Byron Wambende, a presenter at Time FM 95 radio station in Maluku Mbale.

President Museveni recalled the bad days of 1972 when he narrowly escaped an attack by Amin's soldiers who killed 2 of his comrades in Maluku Housing Estate, 2 houses away from the radio station he was hosted at.

"Bad things happen in the world but one's God assists and sees you through; good things eclipse bad ones,” he reminisced.

He congratulated the proprietor of Time FM 95, Mr. Dennis Nabende, for opening up the radio station and hoped that the station will be used for sensitizing masses in Bugisu Sub-Region to eradicate poverty through modern commercial farming.

Later, President Museveni met a group of neighbors who shared ttestimonies of the 1972 attack by Amin's soldiers at House Number 49 in Maluku Housing Estate in Mbale Municipality.
