President Museveni meets oil companies over Albert Basin Resources President Yoweri Museveni has today met and held discussions with officials from the three main oil companies involved in oil exploration in the Lake Albert Basin region that include Cnooc, Total and Tullow oil.
The meeting was aimed at addressing various issues including outlining the operators vision for the basin wide development, the proposal to create a government Lake Albert Development Committee to oversee and steer an agreed Basin Development Plan and target signature of a joint development agreement between government and operators.
The Tullow Oil Group was represented by Elly Karuhanga, Paul Mcdade, Martyn Morriss, Etin Mekle, Paul Watkins, Nick Stranks and Gilbert Kamuntu while the Total delegation included Serge Matesco, Loic Laurandel, Thieery Autin, and Ahlem Friga-Noy. The CNOOC team included Xiao Zongwei and Xiangdong Liu.
The Uganda delegation included Maria Kiwanuka Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Abraham Byandala Minister for Works, Dr. James Mutende Minister of State Minister for Industry and Technology, Rose Namayanja Minister of General Duties, Flavia Munaaba Minister of State for the environment, Ephraim Kamuntu Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage and Eng. Irene Muloni Minister of Energy. It was also attended by officials from the Uganda Revenue Authority led by Commissioner General Allen Kagina
