President consoles widows & orphans of UPDF chopper crash victims

President Yoweri Museveni has assured widows and orphans of the recent Uganda Air-Force helicopter crash victims that the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and the Government of Uganda, will look after them within the limited means and asked them not to be anxious on that scope.

The President who was this morning meeting the widows and orphans of the 7 bereaved families at State House, Entebbe, consoled and expressed condolences to them. He consoled each bereaved family with Shs.10 million to help them at the moment.

The Air-Force personnel lost their lives mid this month when 3 helicopters they were travelling in that were destined for the AU sponsored AMISOM operations in Somalia crashed into Mt. Kenya.

The President assured the families that the government of Uganda will give support to the orphans, widows and to the parents of the deceased as these were deriving help from the deceased personnel adding that they will not be left alone. He at the same time warned relatives and in-laws against fighting over what is given to help the bereaved families.

“The government will pay for the education of the children and the widows will be helped in ways that can make them earn money on their own. The families of the fallen UPDF officers should reside in the UPDF quarters until government will make arrangements to relocate them”, he said.

The widows and the relatives of the fallen Air-Force personnel thanked President Museveni for consoling them and extending to them support at this material time of sorrow after losing their dear loved ones.
