President Musevenii has said the current problems in Africa stem from failure by leaders to define the direction of their countries and societies where they only provide pseudo definitions like tribe and religion.
"The main problems are three; ideological, organizational and discipline. African leaders fail to define the direction of their countries and societies. They provide pseudo definitions that create all these problems e.g religion and tribe. Tribes have been here for a long time, but what is their relevance to the money economy?" he asked.
President Museveni made the remarks today at a meeting with a military delegation from Britain led by the Chief of Defense Staff General Jeremy Houghton at Kyankwanzi.
General Houghton was accompanied by the British High Commissioner to Uganda, Alison Blackburne and the Rear Admiral Simon ACONA ACDS -Military Strategy responsible for Africa.
Other members of the delegation included Hugh Powell from the National Security Secretariat Captain Martin Cornell and Lt. Col. Nigel and Uganda's Deputy Chief of Defense Forces General Charles Angina.
President Museveni explained that if a leader rose up and mobilised people on religious or tribal lines, such a leader is an enemy of his own people who acts against his own interests.
President Museveni also cited discipline especially in the army as a crucial element in changing the direction of the country for the better.
He said the African society had to metamorphose like in Europe where peasants have disappeared.
The President also briefed his guests on the operations of AMISOM of which Uganda plays a significant part and expressed the need to increase number of troops to cover the entire country.
