President Museveni promotes Kagulu hill as tourist site, advises Basoga on tourism.

President Yoweri Museveni has reiterated his call to the people of Buyende District in general and Kagulu sub-county in particular to make Kagulu hill an attractive tourist site for both adventure and leisure that will in turn provide them with the opportunities to become service providers who will create a lot of wealth.

“Service sector like tourism creates opportunities for service providers like those who sell food and drinks, transporters and later accommodation for tourists,” he noted.

The President was today the Guest of honor at the tourism promotion drive led by Busoga Tourism Initiative at a ceremony marred by heavy rain at Kigulu hill in Buyende district.

Kagulu hill is one of the tourist attractions in Busoga sub-region that is to be transformed into one of the country’s modern cites.

The President directed the construction of steps at the hill to enable the elderly tourists who may wish to have some adventure and leisure to climb to the top with ease.

He also directed fixing of conductors on the hill and other high grounds that are likely to attract lightning during the rainy season.

“I came when it was raining and you know high grounds are likely to attract lightning so fixing of conductors must be done. We don’t want any risk for anybody,” he cautioned.

President Museveni once again challenged all wanainchi to create wealth at household levels by getting deeply involved in the 4 major sectors that include well - calculated modern commercial farming, small scale industry like maize milling, milk cooling, juice processing and rice hullers among others.

President Museveni pledged to tarmac Kamuli Bukungu road and Musiita-Nankoma road.

He also promised to upgrade other roads in their area into first class murram ones.

The President promised to extend electricity to the area.

He, however, raised concern over very poor methods of fishing and asked leaders to find ways of stopping the practice.

The colorful ceremony was attended by among others the Speaker of Parliament the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, MPs, Religious and traditional leaders.
