President Museveni cautions voters over liars

President Yoweri Museveni has cautioned the people of Luwero District against liars who are attempting to secure Women Member of Parliament seat of the area. 

He gave the warning yesterday in Wobulenzi Town Council, Luwero District while addressing a campaign rally in preparation for the by-elections slated for Thursday, 21st May 2014.He urged them to vote for the NRM flag bearer, Rebbecca Nalwanga.

"We in NRM do not play to the gallery or engage in propaganda, we work hard for our country's progress," President Museveni said.

He appealed to the people to ignore characters from the opposition Democratic Party promoting the blame game. He stressed that the NRM Government works under set priorities. 

He informed the attentive crowd that the Government presents its annual budget in broad day light highlighting its set targets and projects. 

He observed that the Luwero triangle has benefited a lot from the roads construction program, pointing out that a large part of the ongoing Kafu – Gulu road construction is within the Luwero region.

He added that work was progressing well in the construction of the Gulu – Nimule road. He reminded the people that the construction of Matugga _ Kapeka road and the Gayaza – Zirobwe roads was complete.

He stressed that having accomplished these tasks, there was no way Government would not work on the Zirobwe- Wobulenzi road.

President Museveni said that the Government has built several schools while using modern and permanent materials.

He noted that the Government has recorded a big success in the immunization program.

He challenged the electorate to show him a person suffering from polio infection.

He told the gathering that the Uganda Peoples' Congress (UPC) advocated to subscribing only Protestants while the Democratic Party (DP) subscribed only Catholics.

He noted that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) was an all round Party and does not follow the policy of discrimination or sectarianism. 

He warned the electorate that there was no way the DP candidate would deliver to them essential services when she is not part of the NRM. He revealed that she has never supported any progress. He called on them not to waste their votes but ensure that they support the NRM flag bearer, Rebecca Nalwanga. 

President Museveni pledged to construct the Luwero District Hospital in Kasana, in line with the Government policy of having a Government hospital in every District. 

He revealed that the Government was fully committed to constructing the new Luwero District Headquarters. He urged them to be patient.

He revealed that the Government had released the Youth development funds which are being distributed at a low interest rate.

He asked them to approach their MPs who have the task of implementing and ensuring that the beneficiaries get what is due to them. 

He reminded the gathering that the Government had fulfilled its role of ensuring national security.

The NRM flag bearer, Rebecca Nalwanga assured the gathering that she was fully committed to support the NRM proposals and serve them efficiently. 

The Buganda region NRM National Vice Chairman Hajji Nadduli introduced over 60 former members of DP who crossed to the NRM.

They were led by Mr. Vincent Kyaligonza who was a leader in Brenda Nabukenya's election task force.

Hajji Nadduli saluted the President for enabling the construction of roads in Luwero District.

He said that the program which cost Shs 3bn was funded by the central Government.
