Monday 25th August 2014

President Yoweri Museveni is currently in Addis Ababa to attend the 27th Extraordinary Summit of IGAD Heads of State and Government that is taking place today at the Grand Palace.

The President was received on arrival yesterday evening at Bole International Airport by Uganda Ambassador to Ethiopia and African Union, Mr. Mull Katende, Deputy Ambassador Mr. Idule Amoko, Commissioner Rhoda Tumusiime of the African Union, Military Attaché, Brigadier Fred Torit, and other Ethiopian Senior Government officials.

He later held a discussion with the Ethiopian Prime Minister ahead of the summit.

The President is accompanied by the Minister of State for Regional Affairs, Mr. Asuman Kiyingi.

The Summit is devoting time to the security situation in South Sudan which has continued to cause concern since the failed attempted coup against President Salva Kiir Mayardit last December.

President Museveni was earlier seen off at Entebbe International Airport by Presidency Minister, Mr. Frank Tumwebaze and Head of Public Service Mr. John Mitala, as well as senior security officials.

President Uhuru Kenyatta who addressed the PAKASA forum for the youth a day before at Kampala Parents’ School had earlier left for the Ethiopia and was also seen off at Entebbe International Airport by the same team that saw off his Ugandan counterpart.
