President invites His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority to invest in Uganda

President Yoweri Museveni has received His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi who called on him at his Emirates Palace Hotel.

Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan thanked President Museveni for receiving him and conveyed good-will greetings of his brother, His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Eemirates (UAE) Armed Forces. 

The President congratulated His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan upon the progress and achievements registered by the UAE since independence from Britain in 1971.The two discussed wide ranging issues of possible co-operation between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.

President Museveni extended an invitation to His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to invest in Uganda, particularly in the mineral sector exploitation and in the agriculture and agro-processing industry for the export market.

President Museveni had earlier received the Managing Director of the International Petroleum Investment Company, Mr. Khadem Al Ombaisi, who called on him at his hotel residence. They discussed possible investments in value chain exploration and development of petro-chemical industries in Uganda and the crude oil pipeline infrastructural development.

Mr. Museveni also received the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for International Development, Mr. Mohammed Saif Al Sowaidi with whom he discussed the Fund's continued participation in Uganda’s economic development, particularly the rural electrification programme and road infrastructural development in the oil-rich Albertine area in the Western Region of the country.

The meetings were attended by State Minister for International Affairs, Hon. Okello Oryem, the Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Maria Kiwanuka, that of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon Irene Muloni, their respective Ministries' Permanent Secretaries, the President's Principal Private Secretary Ms Mary Amajo and Uganda's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Ms. Irene Florence Wakiya.
