President Yoweri Museveni has called on the youth to embrace government programmes aimed at empowering them through wealth creation by engaging in productive economic sectors.
Speaking at meetings he held separately with various NRM youth from Central and Northern regions led by the NRM youth chairperson for Kampala Adam Luzindana Buyinza and his counterpart in-charge of northern region Willy Omodo Omodo respectively, the President said the NRM government had registered tremendous achievements in the economic, social and political spheres and urged the youth to take advantage of the various programmes including the Youth Livelihood programme, NAADS, SACCOs etc to be productively engaged.
The President urged the youth to work together for the Prosperity and Security of their country and for cohesion in the party and warned against the sectarianism in any form.
The youth pledged to support resolutions from the NRM National Conference that was held in Namboole including the party’s constitutional amendments that provided for the appointment of the Secretary General and deputy Secretary General, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer etc. They said they were misled by a group of Ugandans who are ideologically disoriented but after the Namboole meeting, they decided to work with President Museveni and abide by their party’s decisions.
