President commends couples for wedding while young; says finding a partner, bearing children, creating wealth and promoting education are vital factors in marriage

President Yoweri Museveni has said that marriage of young couples protects them from the dangers of the world.

The President made the comments today at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala during the wedding reception of Salim Nakueira and Diana Nanyumba. The groom is the son of Hajji Twaibu Nakueira and the bride is the daughter of the late Major General Samuel Nanyumba also a niece of the Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga. The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah.

“I am happy that the children are forming family unions when they are still young. This protects them from the dangers of the world,” he said. He congratulated the parents for rearing well and educating the newly wedded couple. He called on the young couple to take the example of their parents who reared them well and educated them. He also told the guests that there are 4 vital factors in marriage, namely finding a partner, bearing children, creating wealth and promoting education.

He called on the women not to pressurize their husbands as they strive to progress. He said that within a good family, there should be cooperation between husband and wife. He cautioned them against rushing to attain wealth and other achievements but advised them to be steady and sure in what they do.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga saluted President Museveni for accepting the invitation to attend the wedding ceremony. She revealed that Salim and Diana have been given a good foundation for a marriage relationship.

The father of the groom, Hajji Twaibu Nakueira said that President Museveni has given them great honour by sparing time from his busy schedule to bless the occasion.
