President Yoweri Museveni has assured an India-based investment group of the support of the Government of Uganda to the company, Mahathi Infra Services Private Ltd, which has shown interest in the development of an oil transport system on Lake Victoria using barges to Port Bell and Jinja.
The President was this afternoon meeting the Managing Director of Mahathi Infra Services Private Ltd, Mr. Y. Ravi Shankar and his group, who called on him this afternoon at State House, Entebbe. The company headquarters is Hyderabad City in the Indian State of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Museveni warmly welcomed them to Uganda and assured them of government's support to their project. The group has given indications that once the project is operational, it will go a long way in reducing traffic and accidents on the roads and also lower the cost of fuel considerably.Â
The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, State Ministers for Investment, Mr. Ajedra Gabriel, of Minerals, Mr. Lokeris Peter and of Planning, Mr. Bahati David.Â
