President Yoweri Museveni has said that the main cause of insecurity in Africa is the problem of interests versus identity.
The President made these observations today during a meeting at State House Entebbe where he received the French Ambassador to Uganda, Ms. Stephanie Rivoal.
The French envoy had paid a courtesy call on the President to brief him on the upcoming France-Africa Summit that is slated to take place in West Africa later this month.
"The political actors concentrate more on identity but forget the interests of the people they keep talking about," Mr. Museveni said.
The French Ambassador to Uganda Stephanie Rivoal observed that sectarianism limits prosperity of a nation.
"Immigration has made France richer and prosperous," she said.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Sam Kuteesa, the Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Patrick Mugoya and Uganda’s Ambassador to France, Ms. Nimisha Madhvani, attended the meeting.
