President MwaKibaki in Uganda to receive MUK Honorary doctorate

President MwaiKibaki of Kenya arrived in Uganda for a 3-day visit during which he would be bestowed an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree of Makerere University in recognition of his contribution to public service at national, regional and international levels in areas of academic excellence, political and social economic reforms.

President Kibaki graduated from Makerere in 1955 with a first class Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, History and Political Science before joining the London School of Economics for a Bachelor of Science in Public Finance where he graduated with a distinction.

President MwaiKibaki and Chairman of the East African Community (EAC), will also address members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) on Wednesday 25th January in his capacity at the current Chairman of the EAC.

The Kenyan leader was received on arrival at Entebbe International Airport this evening by the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs Mr. EriyaKategaya.

Others at the airport to receive the Kenyan President included the Speaker of East African Legislative Assembly, AbddirahimAbdi, the Vice-chancellor of Makerere University, Professor VenanciousBaryamureeba, the Commander of the Air Force Lt. General Jim Owoyesigire and the Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. OkosOchola, among others.

President MwaiKibaki is accompanied by the Minister for East African Affairs, Mr. Musa Sirma and the Deputy Minister for Higher Education Ms. Margaret Kamara, among others.
