State House comptroller eulogises Chief of Transport Officer Francis Byamukama

Saturday 12th August 2017
The State House Comptroller, Ms Lucy Nakyobe has praised the late Francis Byamukama (who has been the Chief of Transport), as a committed, hard working and humble servant.
Ms Nakyobe eulogised the deceased during a requiem mass at Namugongo Catholic Basilica on Saturday.
Mr Francis Byamukama who has been at the helm of State House transport department for the last 14 years succumbed to cancer of the gal bladder at Nakasero Hospital on Friday morning .
In her remarks, Ms Nakyobe said, "Francis loved everyone, worked tirelessly, and with commitment.
His job is one of the most difficult at State House , you work with very limited resources but serving a huge team and each person must be satisfied- Francis managed and even impressed the President.
I was at my desk and Dr Nekesa ( SH doctor) came crying, she told me one of your staff is going to die- a young person, Francis.
Francis had just walked out of my office, I just laughed. She continued and said :" A cancer has eaten his gal bladder and he won't survive it." I refused to take it and told her he will survive.
She pleaded with me not to tell Francis and actually he walked in as we were talking. With a few resources, we managed to secure him treatment in India, he returned to work later in pain and battled amidst the effects of cancer.
He went back to India, he was told the cancer had spread to the stomach and it was terminal. When he returned he told me: "Madam I will keep working from home."
Francis went to hospital ( Naksero) for check up and he was retained to be managed better, his organs started failing one by one , until Friday morning when his candle burnt out.
I thank Francis' family , his widow Annah Byamukama for looking after him so well, I want to assure you that State House will support his young family.
