President arrives in Kenya for 16th EAC Heads of State Summit President Yoweri Museveni is in the Kenyan Capital of Nairobi where he and other regional leaders will attend the 16th Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State. The Summit is expected to consider, among other things, annual report of the Council of Ministers for the period December 2013 to November 2014; progress report in the implementation of key outstanding decisions of strategic importance to the EAC; appointment of the new Judges of the East African Court of Justice, designation of a new Principal Judge of the East African Court of Justice; appointment of a new Deputy Secretary General from Burundi to replace Mr. Jean Claude Nsengiyumva who tenure of office is slated to end in April this year, renewal of contract of Ms. Jessica Eriyo, Deputy Secretary General in Charge of Productive and Social Sector and consideration of a report selected priority matter. According to sources, the issue of Chairmanship is also expected to feature at this Summit. Kenya is the current regional Chair of the regional bloc. The President was received on arrival at Kenyatta International Airport this morning by the Senator for Foreign and Defence Relations, Hon. Ndungu Githenji and Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Ms. Angelina Wapakhabulo.
